Can I turn off shutter noise on the 7D?

I frequently take animal and nature photos and was wondering if there is a way to turn off the shutter "click" on the 7d. Sometimes it spooks the birds and I can only get one good s

There is a setting in one of the menus that allows you to set for silent shooting Mode 1 or Mode 2. Depending whether you want to do continuous shooting or only one shot at a time. If you have the Operating Manual handy check out page 137.
