I shot this X-Men: First Class Spoof with the new Technicolor CineStyle picture profile (it was a 5d, as well). I had done some initial testing when the profile first came out, but never shot a real project on it. This X-Men short is my first real world experience with the profile.
My first attempt at a helmet cam, yielded ok results, but I wanted something even better. The downside to all of this was cost, but it is very close to what I want now.
Interesting clip about a Canon concept camera. This camera is amazing and seems plausible in the next few years. Looks like photography as we know it might be replaced entirely, in the not too distant future. What do you think?
Here is a cool video for Trent Reznor's (NIN) side project How to Destroy Angels. It was directed by Rupert Sanders. It looks like it may have been filmed with a Canon DSLR, but it could be a Red camera, as well. If someone knows for sure, send a link with the info.
Let's assume you have a script (not just an idea) and have gotten your pre production out of the way. These are both incredibly important and should not be taken lightly, especially when you have no budget. So you have an awesome film and all of your ducks are in a row, what do you bring with you to the shoot... or what is really necessary?
I recently shot a short film for director Keegan Uhl for Canon's Beyond the Still contest and our film "The Beach" won first place. We had a lot of fantastic support getting the film done, and I'm really glad to see people liked what we put together. Keegan put in a ton of work and it's always rewarding to win something like this, especially when the film was done all out-of-pocket. My Gaffer on the film, Matt Irwin was awesome as well. He provided a lot of his own equipment, and even provided...
There's an old joke that shooting with available light meant using every light available on the truck. Fortunately, with Canon's new generation of HD capable DSLR's, the term "available light" means what it ought to. Vince LaForet's work with HDDSLR cameras is a great example of using both ambient and specular light present at locations in order to not only expose an image but effectively telling a very visually compelling story.
Brought to you by digitalrev.com, the first unboxing and hands-on review video of Canon EOS 7D - the latest pro level DSLR from Canon and probably the best camera of the year.We thought it would be fun to test out the weather sealing of the camera, so we gave it a nice shower. As you'd expected the 7D came out of the shower without any sign of damage or malfunction. (Warning: don't try this at home as your camera is not warranted to water damage.)This water tested 7D will later be displayed at...
